Reef restoration
Do you know the #Running4Reef project? This project has been started by the staff of the "Horniman Museum and Gardens". They specialise in captive breeding of corals and help rebuilding reefs.
Through the Running4Reef project, they want to donate equipment to an NGO: New Reef Mauritius, which is working to restore the coral reef around Mauritius. The technique: to repopulate the reef with young colonies with the help of a rearing facility. To achieve this, a crowdfunding campaign was launched with the aim of raising €60,000, which are needed to purchase the necessary equipment.
To reach as many people as possible for the good cause, teams have been formed around the world. The idea is to commit to run, to walk, to swim… the length of a coral reef and thus help to raise funds.
The staff of the Aquarium Museum decided to form a team and to participate in the adventure! It is about 2300 km that we will cover in 2022 for the Great Barrier Reef - the largest reef in the world.
Would you like to support us in this project?
Nothing could be easier! We collect your donations with an urn. We run every kilometre (1€=1km) for Running4Reef and commit to donate the collected amount to the NGO: New Reef Mauritius.
